The Best of Cape Town Social Rugby.....
03 Movember 2008
Ok so there has been a bit of ragging from the Shebeen Boys especially after the cancellation of our belated annual fixture. So just to set the record straight we thought we would start a new game called “Spot the Difference”.
Below you will see 2 pictures that may at first glance seem remarkably similar. One is of the Galetti Fourths chairman Chuckles and the other is of the Shebeen Boys chairman Gazza. Can you spot the difference?

In other news well done to the Fourths Mixed 6 Down side. They won their game 7 - 4 and so are on four wins with one loss (which they only lost 3-2).
Keep up the good work girls, boys and those that are undecided (yes I mean you Nemo and Em).
21 October 2008
Thanks to all those involved in the end of season dinner it was a good bash…. And may I just say that the MC was awesome.

Some News
The boys are still playing a bit of touch on Tuesday nights if any of you guys feel like a run around.
We also have a mixed side playing in the 6 down league on Wednesday nights. Come down for a cheep beer or two. We have won 3 lost 1 so not doing too badly.
The Newbie Bowls at the Glen in Clifton (Right….and I mean right next to La Med) is rocking at the moment. It is on for the next 2 Sundays. The booze is ridiculously cheap and as I already mentioned it is right next to La Med. Could make for some very unproductive Mondays for the next couple of weeks. The Fourths are very well represented.
So there you have it. Options. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. And if you can’t find anything to do on Fridays and Saturdays then we don’t really want you losers to come round anyway

March in October
Confusing I know....

Date : Monday, October 20, 2008
Time: 11:30am - 1:30pm
"Peaceful March to Parliament and the Union Buildings to Save the Springbok, to Unite ALL South Africans, and to celebrate the anniversary of the 2007 World Cup Victory.
This is a non-political march. ALL South Africans are encouraged to participate. It does not even matter which South African leader you support.
In 95 Nelson Mandela unified the nation using the Springbok as the symbol of that unity. In 2007 Thabo Mbeki followed on with that cause and you may not remember but in 2004 when we won the tri-nations trophy, Jacob Zuma celebrated with the Springboks.
This Springbok Emblem is not just a rugby badge, it is the symbol that unifies all South Africans regardless of creed or colour."

A couple of pics from the golf day uploaded in the Gallery.
There is a severe shortage of pics from the golf day so if anyone out there has more pics then please send them to. You know who I am. But keep that info on a need to know basis.
09 October 2008
The Fourths Mixed touch side suffered their first defeat of the season to a cheating bunch of Springbok girls (who strangely had some guys in the team).
Anyway there were a lot of new faces in the Fourths Mixed and we did well to keap the score at 2 - 3.
We will get better.
09 October 2008
OK yes I know it is Thursday and I have not yet updated the site. But basically I was a phuza faced mess for the first couple of days this week thanks in no small part to the fabulous Fourths fun day at Simon’s Town golf course on Sunday.
Despite a gentle breeze that added a bit of complexity the day went off without a hitch. Except for the few skinny people that the wind got hold of and that had to get fetched in Fish Hoek. The Fourths apologise profusely. We would never intentionally make anyone spend any time in Fish Hoek. But luckily for us we do not have very many skinny people in our side.
Thanks to all those who were involved – Nike Mike, Sniffer, Chuckles, Shimmy. Also to Tony and Galetti for yet again for providing us with pleasing substance for our gullets and eyes. I am just calling these off the top of my head and my apologies if I forgot anyone.
I look forward to the next golf day where I will wait till the back nine before cracking my first ale.
PS: I am starting a “Pay Trophy Back for His All Balls I Lost” Fund. Donations graciously accepted.

Hey Boys,
I am sure most of you will remember Rouxmia who helped us out with the Calendar a while back. Well here is our chance to help her out.
She has entered The FHM Models 2009 competition.
I am pretty sure we played a large part in helping Elbe win the SA Sports Illustrated New Model Search.
Let’s see what we can do here.
Go Here and register.
Go Here and Vote for Rouxmia (Click on the ‘Vote For Me’ button on the right). Seems you can vote more than once so do that.

What's Happening
Not ones to rest on our large laurels the Galetti Fourths are having a super active weekend. Good luck to all those involved in various activities.
Some guys are doing to Clanwilliam Triathlon. Others are doing the Foot of Africa half marathon. Still others are Rocking the Daisies. We are a fun bunch.
But we are all rushing back for the Fourths Golf Day on Sunday and Simon’s Town golf course.
Will report back on who did what and how to whom (hopefully with pictures).
01 October 2008
It's this weekend. Miss it and miss out....

Woooohoooooo!!!
Fourths Take the Final
In a nail biter that saw the Fourths hold on to a narrow 5 point lead despite UCT camping on our try line for the last 10 minutes the Galetti Fourths came out victorious. This win has been the culmination of 3 years of hard work for many of the boys. So it was that we won 13 - 8.
I just want to say well done boys. We showed a lot of character and I think we wanted this a bit more than UCT. UCT no doubt will be back with a vengeance next year and we are going to have our work cut out to stay top.
I will post some photos as soon as I am sent some.

Final Fourths Vs UCT 5ths
This is the big one baby
Where: UCT A field
When: 14h30 on Saturday the 20th of September
What: The game of the year
Be there or be one of the people that in 50 years time tells your grand kids that you knew someone who was at the game of the century but you were busy. While shedding a tear and thinking about what could have been. You are probably the same person who missed the Rolling Stones when they were here too!
Sorry got a bit carried away with the rhetoric. Still going to be a great game though.

The Treat of all Treats
A 3rd Separated. Check it out on the News Page HERE.
18 September 2008
Well done to the mixed touch side who got the season off to a good start with a 6 - 2 victory over the UCT mixed.
Well done boys and girls and Duncs
17 September 2008
To mark the start of the Spring 6 down touch season in which we have entered a mixed side (so Duncs aka Nemo can play) we have decided to treat with not 1….. No not 1 but 2 separated at births.
Enjoy.

Fourths in the Final
We dominated early on and found ourselves 15 – 3 up at half time. Second half, playing into a howling headwind we did not get out of our own half. But some great defence saw the Galetti Fourths come out winners by 15 points to 8.
We meet UCT 5ths, who we drew to a couple of weeks back, in the final. It is going to be an awesome day out so we will let you know the final plan.
11 September 2008
Got this rather disturbing message in an email
Please return him as we need him to play prop this weekend.
PS: He is terrified of geckos so if you want to freak him out chase him with one. Just trying to get on the good side of the Dark Side in case I end up there one day.
11 September 2008
Weather looking pretty good for the weekend.
Fourths Face DurBell in the Semi Finals
Yes that's right folks. We play them this Saturday away at 4pm.
Check out the News Flash for more details.
03 September 2008
Well it’s been a few weeks but R Dub Ya makes a reappearance on the Pink Pages. I think he is trying to challenge Stinky’s dominance.

Check out a couple of pics in the Gallery
Fourths Draw
It was a close match where the Fourths led most of the game and UCT 5ths equalised with 5 minutes to go. So the final result was a 3 all draw. Anyone who poked their heads out of the house and did not have it blown off by the gale force wind will know that conditions were not ideal. That said a huge thanks to everyone who came out to support us in bloody awful weather.
Full match report to follow shortly
29 August 2008
Big Day Tomorrow
We take on the UCT 5ths. Always a good, clean, hard game. However tomorrow promises to be a bit of a mud bath. So if watching 30 sweaty, steaming, hairy men doing a bit of mud wrestling is your thing then come on down.
Kick off is a 13h30 on either the B or C fields at Villagers.
28 August 2008
Finaly we may have a plan
25 August 2008
Check out the match report from the past weekend's game against Langa on the News Page...
The boys during their extended warm-up. We played touch for about half an hour as the opposition were late.
22 August 2008
The Galetti Fourths take on Langa tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm
If he can make it through the warm-up uninjured then you may see the return to the Fourths jersey of Moby. Rumour has it that Tequila Tony may be discarding his walker in favour of a pair of rugby togs too. So all in all pretty much an Episode of Return of the Geriatrics.
I know I harp on about it but I also know it is the only way to get most of you lazy bastards down. The booze is cheap. After the game the boys are then going to hang around and watch the Boks hopefully open a can of whip-mutton on those dodgy Aussies. Was pushing it with that last joke wasn’t I? Kak one, sorry.
See you all tomorrow
22 August 2008
Quote of the Day
Putting it in context. Last night after a muddy practice the whole team got together in a huddle. Someone piped up “Shouldn’t we be naked for this?”.
Now I do not like embarrassing people in public so I will not mention his name but will give you a few subtle hints. Find the missing word.
Chocolate Chip “what”
The “what” Monster (large blue fellow – from Sesame Street I think)
That’s the way the “what” crumbles.
OK enough clues now I don’t want to give it away.
21 August 2008
What a joyous day. We have two of the stalwarts of the pink pages together in one photo. Hark the heralds. Check them out…
19 August 2008
Brief News Flash
Things have been a bit quiet around here for 2 reasons. Firstly there have been a couple of weekends off from playing. Secondly my cheeky boss has actually started asking me to do some of this “work” stuff. The nerve of some people….
Shebeen Stuff
Update: Shebeen Game moved to Sunday at 15h00 at UCT
Anyway. So the Shebeen Boys are playing in the Quarters on the C field (furthest from the club house) up at UCT tomorrow. Head down for kick-off at 18h30 and show your support and maybe even join them for the tunnel party afterwards.
Next Fourths Game
The Fourths swing back into action this weekend with a home game against Langa. It is a must win game for the Boys from Brookeside if they are to make it to the playoffs. Afterwards watch the Boks play. Hopefully they have made some progress. Last week they made less progress than an asthmatic ant with heavy shopping (stolen from Black Adder).
Fourths Golf Day
And lastly keep your eyes open for the next Fourths golf day. We are heading back to our original venue, Simon’s Town golf course. It is much more our vibe and besides a small chance of death is a good fun course to play on. Provisionaly booked for first Sunday in October but we will keep you posted.
Adios
13 August 2008
Stuff
Well the 6 stop shuffle went off without too many hitches this past weekend and as soon as Stinky and I get over our technological incompatability I will post some pics.
I have however finally managed to get Gazza to send me the pokeher pics........ whoops I meant poker.
So check them out in the Gallery
08 August 2008
Now if we were childish we would put something up here about how we beat the Beanies to saying happy birthday to another one of their players, Sparky. Good thing we are not childish.
07 August 2008
We have another player earning their first start on the Brokeback Page. I will give you a hint: He is fairly tall and must have something wrong with the top of his head as he is never seen without a cap on.
06 August 2008
The 6 Stop Shuffle
Where will the loyalties lie? And how many Argey Jerseys will be coming out of the closet this weekend.
Due to the lack of a match this coming weekend the Galetti Fourths have decided that as we are finely tjooned machines and need to stay in peak physical condition we will start Saturday off with some serious fitness combined with some team building.
Thus the “6 Stop Shuffle” commences. This involves a mammoth 3.5 kilometre arduous marathon with 6 carbo (aka beer) loading stops in-between. As cross training is part of any good fitness routine lifting the carbs to our mouths will also workout our arms. This trek will be ending at Villagers Rugby Club Pub in time for the boys to get cleaned up and watch the Boks take on Argentina.
We invite everyone to come down and join us for the Bok game and to enjoy a couple of beers and to check if Jongi Nokwe has learnt to catch since the last time he donned the Green and Gold.
05 August 2008
Beenies take on Clarendon
Our sister team the Shebeen Boys are taking on Clarendon in the UCT internal league tomorrow night (Wed 6 August). The game kicks off at 18h30 on the C field (Wynberg side). Lets head down and show our support.
04 August 2008
A Hammering to Helderberg
The Galetti Fourths got their season back on track with their first away win of the season. The boys played some fantastic running rugby to come away with 37- 17 victory.
Shimmy had to use all his skills not to score despite twice having an open tryline in front of him. Well done Shim Dog you managed to keep your never scoring for the Fourths record intact.
01 August 2008
The boys head out to Helderberg tomorrow to play their 5ths. Last time we played out there against this bunch we lost at the death 12 – 13. Despite the Ref’s (aka their injured Captain) best efforts to make us lose earlier.
We need this win to stay in contention so let’s hope the boys can pull one off. Best of luck boys. Anyone wanting to head out to Strand tomorrow, the game kicks off out there at 3pm.
01 August 2008
Looking for a spot to kick off your Phuza Thursday then look no further than your friendly neighbourhood Oblivion.
In the words of Oblivion’s generous owner Tracey it “Kicks off on Thursday 21st August, DJ sessions.....live DJ at Oblivion deep n funky house for the more adult groove 8pm till late”.
30 July 2008
Joyous Rapture. The universe has realigned, the chakras have opened, chi levels are high and my aura has been cleansed.
In other words Tony is back in his white t-shirts and the world is in order again. (See post 18 July 2008)
28 July 2008
Fourths Falter in Ventersdorp (OK Durbanville really but that did not rhyme. And there was at least one guy there called Venter)
The Galetti Fourths took a few lessons from the All Blacks in the game earlier on Saturday to put in a bit of a kak performance. Luckily the boys scored two late tries to at least come away with a bonus point. Final score 12 - 17 to DurBell.
We drove all the way out there for that?? Well actually most of the guys went out there for the R14 double brandy and cokes (which actually looked a bit more like triples). But regardless we will need to up our game if we want to be in contention for a playoff spot.
Full report to follow later.
25 July 2008
Sniffer Sniff No More
In a nasty training ground accident last night Sniffer’s nose got broken (Ironic I know given his nickname and all). His nose fought with the back of Barry’s head. Barry’s head won.
On Another Note
If you feel like an outing tomorrow (Saturday the 26th July) feel free to drive out to Durbanville and support the boys. Game kicks off at 4pm.
25 July 2008
Follow-up
In a feeble attempt to win back favour the Shebeen Boys site posted some birthday greetings to Wazza at 17:30 yesterday evening.
Bad friends! No biscuit!
24 July 2008
Happy Birthday Wazza T
Not that I am trying to cause any friction (yeah right!) but I do not see any birthday greetings on The Shebeen Boys site??
Now you know who your real mates are!
21 July 2008
The Galetti Fourths off to a Flyer
The Galetti Fourths started the second have of the season with a resounding 50 - 12 victory over NNK 5ths. The game was played in great spirit and was just the start our recently returned prodigal coach needed. Welcome back Brad.
Added: Read the full match report HERE.
18 July 2008
Undisputable proof that Tony does actually have a shirt that is not a white t-shirt …..
Although I suppose it could be a rental. A rare sight none the less.
15 July 2008
The Galetti Fourths Conquer Knysna
Well the Fourths took the Knysna Half Challenge with consummate ease. So much so that we are having an internal debate about whether we should even take it as a win. In our defence we did not know just how bad the Beenies were at running. I mean they look like they should be good at it. So following the “No Taking Candy From Babies” charter in the Galetti Fourths constitution we may have make this event null and void.
Naaaaa!! Only kidding of course we will take the points.

News Just In!!
Vella The Speed Demon will also be representing the Beenies
07 July 2008
Well the Gauntlet has been thrown and the Rubicon crossed as Wazza (the Official Shebeen Boys representative at the meeting held this Saturday) accepted the inter-club Knysna Half Marathon Challenge.
It has been a while since we found something new to beat the Beenies at.
Basic run down is as follows. We take the times of the top three finishes from each team and get an average time. The team with the lowest average takes it. And Beenies we don’t want any “New Recruits” to all of a sudden join you guys.
So far the Galetti Fourths are represented by Dave “Wit Blits” Barber, Moby and Chuckles. The Shebeen Boys have Gazza “Slower Than He Looks” Fouche and Sparky. We were going to give Sparky extra time as he has to take twice as many steps to finish but then we remembered that it is cancelled out as Chuckles has to carry his nose for the whole 21kms.
Who else do the Been Boys have? And I want to have seen the person before. If you all of a sudden have a skinny Kenyan as a member there is going to be trouble.
27 June 2008
OK you got me. I posted this a day in advance so that I look like I am doing something every day.
Anyway. For those keen the boys are still playing touch during the mid season break on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So come down if you are keen on a run around.
We have also had many questions about when the next Famous Galetti Fourths Poker Evening will be. We are thinking of having it on Friday the 1st of August (Complete with Tony's Tequila Midgets). Let us know by writing to us here on the Contact Us Page if you are keen. Include your name and contact number and we can contact you to pre-book. Spaces are limited.

19 June 2008
Just a quick note to say that the boys at the Galetti Fourths appreciate the support of all of our biggest fans.
We are on our mid-season break now so things will be a bit quieter for the next few weeks.
13 June 2008
I Don't Want to Talk About It
So if you want to know the result of the DurBell game then check out the Fixtures and Results page. Suffice to say they were better swimmers than we were. But I don't want to talk about it. How do you spell "Kaaaaaaaaak"? No really I don't want to talk about it.
09 June 2008
So Close but Yet so Far(kin annoying)
Unlike Monica Lewinsky the Galetti Fourths came close but got no cigar. In a nail biting encounter where both sides played some great rugby, interspersed with some interesting refereeing interpretations the Fourths lost to the league topping UCT 5ths 25 – 26.
It may seem right up there with “The cheque is in the mail” and “I did not have relations with that woman” in the classic fibs department but regardless “the full match report to follow shortly”.
04 June 2008
Fourths take on UCT 5ths
The Galetti Fourths invite all you fans to come up to UCT this Saturday the 7th of June at 12h00. The game has been moved earlier to accommodate the Bok game at 15h00 so you will be well lubed by the time the Boks give those Welsh Mountain Goat Harassers a good lesson in animal husbandry.
Check out the news flash in this regard (the game not the Goat Harassing).
28 May 2008
Check out some pics from Neighbourhood the other night in the Gallery where we had a meeting of the "I'm Thinning on Top Council".
Only kidding was actually Gazza and Boep's birthday drinks.
Spot the photo hog. Gazza is in all but one.

Fourths Game Shed
It seems Eskom is now in charge of field allocation for games in the reserve league. There was a bit of field shedding this weekend and 4 teams were scheduled to play on a space usually reserved for 2. This reduction in field capacity, which is obviously a colonial legacy, resulted in the Galetti Fourths not being able to play.
Game will probably be re-scheduled but not sure for when.
19 May 2008
Fourths Flatten NNK
In a rough game that saw more than a couple of injuries The Galetti Fourths saw off a hard challenge by NNK 5ths by 24 to 5. From what I hear NNK brought their boxing gloves to this one. But then again we are not playing tidly winks and a couple of well placed punches never hurt anyone….. Well I suppose except the guy getting punched.
A more comprehensive match report to follow shortly.
Our next 3 games are away and The Galetti Fourths would appreciate your support at these games. So who feels like going to Langa this coming weekend?
15 May 2008

Warning: If you are a feminist or a CB this article might get your panties in a bunch.
13 May 2008
Fourths Suffer Cranial Methane Expulsion
More commonly known by it’s street name, the “brain fart”. The Galetti Fourths were 24 to nil up with a good 25 minutes to go and safely cruising home against NNK 4ths on Friday night. Then a combination of bringing on all the subs at once and the opposition actually starting to play led to a dire last spell in which the dodgy boerewors munchers managed to score 24 unanswered points. So we went from bonus point and win in the bag to a 24 all draw. Not our finest work.
That all said and done the guys are willing to learn from this and move forward. Bring on the NNK 5ths this coming weekend. We are not sure if we are playing Saturday of Friday night yet but we will keep you in the loop.
Check out pics from the away game to Helderberg and the drinks after in the Gallery.

Breaking News
Contrary to popular belief Shimmy can actually straighten his legs.
Yes folks you heard it here first!
09 May 2008
OK Sorry for the lack of updates but the useless web guy (aka me) has been deathly ill with Bollerro. A horrible disease carried by Mongolian crabs. Nasty stuff. Well at least that is what is Dr. Ungubonethruthenose told me. But on the plus side he gave me a cream that will not only get rid of the Bollerro but will also fix my small penis, marriage problems and money problems. Pretty good trick, as I am not even married.
Well done to the boys from the Galetti Fourths who gave UCT 4ths a good lesson in rugby on Wednesday the 30th of April when they pummelled them 31 – 5. Regular sized fullback Mike (as opposed to Giant Fullback Mike) scored 3 tries. Tim let the side down again by missing 2 kicks. He thought he could make up for it by scoring 2 tries but I am not so sure. Watch out Tim, Milf is waiting for his chance to take over the kicking duties.
Join us tonight, Friday the 9th of May at 7:45pm at NNK in Parrow (now there's a tempting offer) where we take on NNK 4ths. The boys are playing some great rugby with the extra fitness really telling. Lets keep it up.
30 April 2008
Seems Leader is ready for tonights game. This about sums up his mood.
....And Milf plans to do this to his opposite prop!
